Company News

Saffil is a global company developing and selling high temperature solutions and performance materials. The business was created after the invention of Saffil high alumina fibre and has been established for over 20 years.

Saffil's major business areas encompass Automotive applications and Performance Materials.

Saffil Automotive has recently launched 2 new exciting additions to it's Ecoflex® product range for catalytic converter support mats. Ecoflex® products are an enabling technology for thin and ultra thin wall converters to reduce exhaust gas emissions.

Ecoflex 200M-X1 is an exciting new product designed for use with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), to reduce the amount of fine particles from diesel engines.

Ecoflex 200M-X Series has evolved from the Ecoflex 200 Series of mats (and shares many similar benefits), and has been specifically developed for Diesel Particulate Filter applications in both passenger car and medium duty vehicles. The M-X series has a higher laminar shear capability to perform in the most demanding applications. Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) design requirements present a new challenge for support mat suppliers, due to larger, heavier weight substrates, a larger co-efficient of thermal expansion and higher substrate back pressures.

Ecoflex LB Series uses a novel binder technology to reduce binder levels within the product and give superior burn out properties in both gasoline and diesel applications.

A new family of low binder Ecoflex products have been developed. The low organic content of the mat impacts positively to improve both the performance of the mat during the binder burn out and the ability to pass end of line exhaust tests. Ecoflex 200 / 200M & 200M-X series products are now available with a unique binder chemistry which reduces the organic content of the support mat from approx. 10% to approx. 4%. The Ecoflex LB product range has a film surface coating giving a high surface integrity, improved canning and a customisable surface (e.g. colour and/or bar coding).
